Donations

This is a difficult post for me to write (since the main reason I decided to take part in this story to raise awareness) , but I am ONLY doing it because many people have asked how they can help, and where they can send donations. I have a VERY difficult time accepting help. I don't want any of you to think I am being rude by not getting back to you, but I have been in touch with Newsday because it appears that they have also been getting requests on where to send donations. I am waiting to hear back from the reporter as to what they plan on doing. As soon as a plan is set in motion, I will advise. God Bless you all.

Karen, Mike's story is not only one of Alzheimer's awareness, but it's also a love story. A love story of you and Mike, and a love story about a strong family unit. You touched people's heart, and it's beautiful that strangers want to make your difficult life just a tiny bit easier. Don't feel bad about accepting generousity, because it makes everyone involved feel good!!

As far as keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, I will. In fact, I work in the medical field and have brought your story up to many of my coworkers and patients. I promise to be an advocate for the victims who can no longer speak for themselves.

love, Diane (scentedcottage)

Your's and Mike's story is a captivating one that has touched many people on many levels. Your ability to share the most intimate details of your daily life is inspiring in many ways. By raising awareness, it is possible that more demands will be made to find a cure for this incurable disease. Having said that, I hope you will consider to accept the donations from those who just want to reach out to you and your family and let you know that there, but for the grace of God, go any one of us. Blessings!

Diane -

Thank you for your kind words. The BEST thing anyone can do for us is kep spreading the word. Make people aware of Ealry Onset AD, that is the best gift we can get.

Thank you all.

Hi Karen, I was one of the callers to Newsday to send you something in the mail. I found your address, but wondered if you get your mail at home. My beautiful three year old son, Ryan, passed away in August. I was his primary caregiver for 2 1/2years. My girs, 12 and 14, took on a lot of responsibility including fixing his feedings, preparing his meds, cooking dinner, feeding the animals, cleaning, etc. I was able to receive some nursing help, which helped a lot - Can you get some "care at home" nursing? That might take some of the load off the kids. I think you have done a fantastic job and hope that you will also take care of YOU - you deserve whatever people want to donate - please let people give -they need to. We started a little ministry called "Splashes of Joy" while Baby Ry was sick and would like to splash some joy on you - Bless you for giving 100% to your wonderful husband and to your children for taking such good care of their dad. hugs! nancy
